Photo / Picture Scanning Service

BluFox Photo & Video can scan your photos and pictures into high-resolution digital computer files so that you can archive, reprint, email, share, and enjoy them all over again! Each negative is carefully cleaned and scanned by hand with our high resolution transparency film scanners.

We scan your photos into 300dpi or 600dpi digital images. Typically, we scan into high quality JPEG files due to their efficiency as well as being easily shared between devices and online. However, we can scan your pictures into TIFF files if you prefer, which offer richer color and higher quality at a bigger file size.

We recommend our Enhanced Scan which includes dust removal, color correction, brightness / contrast improvement, cropping, de-skewing and picture orientation. In addition, we can scan medium format negatives as well as large format negatives.

We also offer slide scanningphoto scanning and photos to DVD (photo montage). We have options for everyone’s needs and budget, so checkout the info below and don’t hesitate to call us if you have any questions. 226-348-2726

Basic vs. Enhanced Scan

Both scanning services are done with the same scanning equipment, resulting in the same high quality scans.

Economy – The Basic Service provides a general, untouched scan of the photo as is. Basic scans are quicker, and are perfect for those who have the time, knowledge, and software to enhance the images themselves.

Enhanced – The enhanced scanning service offers:
• Dust Removal
• Slight Color Correction
• Brightness / Contrast Improvement
• De-skewing (image leveling)
• Picture Orientation Correction

300 dpi vs. 600 dpi

300 dpi – 300 dpi (ppi) is great for on-screen viewing on smaller monitors, archiving, and making prints of photos at their original size.

600 dpi – 600 dpi (ppi) is great for archiving your photos and is extremely important if you plan on zooming in, viewing on larger screens / monitors, or making prints larger than the original.

Our services include scans of photographic prints in various sizes and formats, resulting in high-quality images delivered on USB as jpeg files.

The Difference Between using AI and Personal Skill in Photo Restoraton.

While AI is becoming more prominent in self-editing photos, there will always be a sence of error in either detection, color, or overall results. While AI can do a great job in removing several pieces of dust, or imperfections, sometimes something like a button off a shirt, or a lapel pin, or a skin imperfection can be removed along with it. Color can also be wrongfully adjusted if the environment was meant to be a certain color of lighting.

We pride ourselves in our many years of knowledge, skill and hard work to put in the best quality photo restoration by hand. We carefully select and choose when automatic programs and AI would be best suitable for any other tasks that would otherwise be impossible to do manually.
